(1-Naphthylmethyl)ammonium chloride
The reaction of 1-naphthyl-methyl-amine and hydro-chloric acid in a 1:1 molar ratio resulted in the formation of the 1:1 proton-transfer compound, C(11)H(12)N(+)·Cl(-). In the crystal, the ions are linked by N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into a sheet pattern in the ab plane such that each Cl(-) ion is bonded to three NH groups from the naphthylmethylammonium ion.
متن کاملMetabolic Reactions to Acidosis Produced by Ammonium Chloride.
Acidosis is so frequently put forward as the underlying pathological condition in such a variety of disorders that it is important to appreciate what actually are the metabolic manifestations of the acidotic state. Clinically one seldom if ever has an opportunity of studying acidosis uncomplicated by some such other factor as inanition or toxaemia. It is therefore advisable in an investigation ...
متن کاملThe mechanism of the excretion of ammonia in the dog.
The excretion of ammonia is dependent upon several factors: the amount and duration of acid intake, presumably affecting variations in intracellular enzyme activity (1-3), the availability of precursors from which ammonia can be formed (4-6), and the pH of the urine (7-9). With respect to the effect of urine pH, the excretion of ammonia resembles that of a number of organic bases, such as quini...
متن کاملAmmonia excretion in Caenorhabditis elegans: mechanism and evidence of ammonia transport of the Rhesus protein CeRhr-1.
The soil-dwelling nematode Caenorhabditis elegans is a bacteriovorous animal, excreting the vast majority of its nitrogenous waste as ammonia (25.3±1.2 µmol gFW(-1) day(-1)) and very little urea (0.21±0.004 µmol gFW(-1) day(-1)). Although these roundworms have been used for decades as genetic model systems, very little is known about their strategy to eliminate the toxic waste product ammonia f...
متن کاملRh versus pH: the role of Rhesus glycoproteins in renal ammonia excretion during metabolic acidosis in a freshwater teleost fish.
Increased renal ammonia excretion in response to metabolic acidosis is thought to be a conserved response in vertebrates. We tested the hypothesis that Rhesus (Rh) glycoproteins in the kidney of the freshwater common carp, Cyprinus carpio, play a crucial role in regulating renal ammonia excretion during chronic metabolic acidosis. Exposure to water pH 4.0 (72 h) resulted in a classic metabolic ...
